Talking To God Lyrics & Chords

By Lewis J. Anderson & Layng Martine

(G)School let out at (D)three o’clock and (C)I picked Jackson (D)up. (G)I had the tent and the (D)sleeping bags in the (Am)back end of the (C)truck. Built a fire up (D)by the lake, (G)watched the sun go (C)down, (G)fell asleep (C)side by side on(D)Nature’s hollowed (G)ground. (G)You may not find me every (D)Sunday sitting (C)on the front row (D)pew. (G)There are other ways of (D)praying, I (C)believe we still get (D)through. The (C)quiet of the (D)backwoods with a (G)boy and a fishing (C)rod, That’s just my way of (D)talking to (G)God. Waking to a whippoorwill at the crack of dawn, Sunbeam shining through the pines before the mist is gone, I hear a different drummer when I’m closer to the land. Sometimes I have to get away to find out who I am. You may not find me every Sunday sitting on the front row pew. There are other ways of praying, I believe we still get through. Down a road less traveled, I let go of a lot. That’s just my way of talking to God. I don’t need a cathedral or tabernacle choir. A mountain stream, cold and clean, gets me inspired. Standing in rainstorm, now some might think it odd. But it’s just my way of talking to God. It’s just my way of talking to God.
